The calculator is a planning sketch. These costs and rules sit outside it, and any of them can move the number.
Worked example
Silicone kitchen mats, 500 units to Germany
Per mat before freight$1.61
One product, line by line
These are the calculator's starting inputs. The supplier price is $1.19, and the product sits under HS 3924 10 for the EU.
Freight is left out until the cartons are packed and weighed. Run it again when the supplier sends the carton weight and size, because freight can change more than the unit price does.
How to calculate landed cost →Landed cost questions
What is the landed cost formula?
Add the goods cost, China shipping, the service fee, international freight, insurance, import duty, import tax and any broker or delivery fees. Then divide by the number of units you receive.
How much is import duty when buying from China?
It depends on the HS code, the customs value and your destination, and on the rules in force on the day of import. Check the current rate with your customs authority and note the date you checked.
Who pays the import duty, me or the supplier?
That depends on the Incoterm. Under DDP the seller or agent pays duty and delivers to you. Under EXW, FOB or DAP you pay it as the importer.
Why does freight need the packed weight?
Freight is charged on the packed weight or the volume weight, whichever is higher. Ask the supplier for the carton weight and size, or work it out with the CBM calculator.
Is this the final landed cost?
No. It is an estimate for planning. The final cost depends on the supplier quote and the packed cartons, on the route you book and on what customs decides.
Are small parcels from China duty-free?
Do not assume so. Low-value rules depend on the destination and the goods, and they change. Check the current guidance from your customs authority before you count on it.
What goes in the service fee field?
If we buy for you, the fee is 5% down to 3% of the goods value ($49 minimum). Convert it to CNY before you enter it. Leave the field empty to see the cost without us.
Want us to work it out for you?
Send the product, the quantity and where it ships. Our Yiwu team finds suppliers, prices the order to your door and sends a written quote. The quote is free.
