Short answer
What to know first
Kitchenware is easy to find in China and harder to import well. The unit price is rarely the problem. The open questions are whether the material is allowed for food in your market and whether the seller has a test report for the exact item. Packed weight comes next. We ask for the report and the packing data before we quote, and we tell you plainly when a claim cannot be verified.
Products
What we source in home and kitchen
Most kitchen orders mix several of these groups. Each has its own weak spot.
Silicone tools and baking mats
Spatulas, baking mats, lids and ice trays. Silicone quality varies between sellers, and a cheap mat can smell or stain. Ask for a food-contact test report that names the item.Mugs, cups and drinkware
Ceramic and porcelain mugs, glass cups and insulated tumblers. Ceramic is heavy and breaks, so the packing method decides freight and damage.Stainless steel utensils
Ladles, whisks, peelers and measuring spoons. Steel grade and finish differ between sellers whose listings look the same.Food storage
Reusable bags, containers and jars. Claims like BPA-free or leakproof need proof before they go on your listing.Cutting boards
Bamboo, wood and plastic boards. Wood and bamboo need a moisture and mold check before they are packed.
Where we buy
Where kitchenware comes from
Our office is in Yiwu, so we can see kitchen goods in the market in person. Much of the category is also made in factories elsewhere in China that sell on 1688.
Yiwu market, District 2, floor 3
The official Chinagoods directory lists kitchen and bath goods and small appliances here. It is our first stop for kitchen tools.
Yiwu market, District 4, floor 2
Daily necessities. Useful when a kitchen brief spreads into general household goods.
1688 sellers across China
Many silicone and stainless steel makers sell on 1688 from other provinces. We compare them there and bring samples to our partner warehouse.
MOQ and price
Minimum orders and what drives the price
Listed minimums are low, and they vary by product. In our MOQ study, all 10 tumbler cup rows listed two units or fewer. Only 5 of 10 ceramic mug rows did.
Price follows material grade first, then decoration. A printed logo or a custom color on silicone usually means a new batch and a higher minimum. For ceramics the packing method matters too. Individual boxes cost more and cut breakage.
Package data on listings is patchy. In our shipping-weight study, 5 of 10 kitchen organizer listings and 7 of 10 cutting board listings gave complete package dimensions. For the rest we ask the seller, because a freight quote built on missing dimensions is a guess.
Look-alikes vary in price. In our image-search pilot, 3 of 4 silicone kitchen tool listings had a cheaper visual match. We compare the material and the test report before we switch to a cheaper seller.

Small, non-random samples. Listing fields are what sellers display, and they are not quotes or audited facts.
Customs
HS code starting points
Use these as a starting point with your customs broker. Kitchen items are classified by material, so a mixed-material product needs a closer look.

| Product | Starting code | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Silicone and plastic kitchenware | 3924.10 | Tableware and kitchenware of plastics. Silicone articles are usually reviewed here. |

Duty rates change and depend on origin and trade measures, so we estimate them per quote from the official tariff. The final classification is made by you or your customs broker.
Compliance
Food-contact checks by destination
In our certificate display study, none of the 20 top-ranked kitchen utensil listings on 1688 showed a certificate on the listing. Since sellers can hold reports they do not display, we ask for the one that covers your exact item.
United States
Materials that touch food fall under FDA food-contact rules. Ask for a test report that covers the finished item as well as the raw material.
European Union
Food-contact materials must meet Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004, and plastics have their own rules. Expect to need a written declaration of compliance for plastic items.
Great Britain
The same framework continues in assimilated law, overseen by the Food Standards Agency.
California
Proposition 65 warnings can apply to some glazes and coatings. Check before you list in California.
Anything with a plug or a battery
Blenders, kettles and rechargeable gadgets go through our electrical and battery review before a quote.
We collect and compare documents. We are not a test lab or a certification body, and rules change, so confirm the current requirement with the official source for your market.
Quality
Common quality problems and what we check
Every order is counted and checked at our partner warehouse in Yiwu before it ships. For kitchenware we look hardest at these.
Silicone that smells or stains
We check the smell and color of sample units against the approved sample, and note any difference.Chipped or cracked ceramics
We open cartons, count breakage and photograph how the mugs are separated inside.Rust spots or a different steel
We check the finish and any grade marking, and compare the weight with the sample.Lids that do not seal
We close and turn over containers from each carton we open.Claims printed on packaging
We flag words like food grade or BPA-free that have no report behind them, before the goods are packed.
Examples
Example quotes and teardowns
Built from public listings to show our format and reasoning. They are illustrations, not customer results.
- Example quote: silicone kitchen matExample: a US Amazon FBA listing. We advise a sample first, because material proof is missing.
- Teardown: reusable storage bagWhy we said stop. Food-contact claims and a high minimum made the first order too risky.
- Teardown: portable blenderA battery and a food-contact jar in one product, and what that does to the landed cost.
- Teardown: viral tumblerWhy a branded look-alike is a stop, even when the price looks good.
Price
5% down to 3% of goods, $49 minimum
The quote is free. If we find the supplier, the fee is 5% on the first $5,000 of goods, 4% up to $20,000 and 3% above, with a $49 minimum. If you already have a supplier, order follow-up is 3%.
You pay Supplymo by bank transfer to our WorldFirst account. You never pay a supplier directly, and nothing is paid to one without your written approval.
Do you check that kitchenware is food safe?
We check the documents and tell you what is missing. The seller's food-contact test report should name the item and your market. For real proof you need a third-party lab test, and we can quote one before you pay.
What does LFGB mean on a listing?
LFGB is the German food and feed code, and sellers use the mark to signal a food-contact test to German rules. The logo on a listing proves nothing by itself. Ask for the report and check the lab, the date and the item name.
Can I get my logo on silicone or ceramic items?
Yes. Printing, embossing or a custom color usually needs a new batch, so the minimum order goes up and sampling takes longer. The quote shows those costs as separate lines.
How do you stop mugs breaking in transit?
We ask the seller how mugs are packed before you order, then check the cartons at our partner warehouse. Dividers or individual boxes may be worth it for fragile items. Any extra cost is on the quote before you approve it.
Is there a minimum order for kitchenware?
Not from us. Sellers set their own minimums, and custom work raises them. We confirm the real number before you pay.
How much do you charge to source kitchenware?
The quote is free. Our service fee is 5% down to 3% of the goods value with a $49 minimum, and there is no markup on supplier prices. Samples-only orders have no service fee.
