Destination facts and official boundaries
US rules shifted in 2025. A low 1688 price is only the first line — these are the factors that decide your real US landed cost before you pay a supplier.
- De minimis is no longer a safe assumption
- Don't assume US-bound parcels under $800 are duty-free. Executive Order 14256 ended duty-free de minimis for covered PRC/Hong Kong goods (from 2025-05-02), and EO 14324 suspended it for all countries (from 2025-08-29). Check current CBP guidance before quoting.
- HTS classification drives the duty
- Duty starts from your HTS code, country of origin, customs value, and entry method — not the product name. Section 301 and IEEPA tariffs may stack on top.
- Clearing customs is not permission to sell
- Children's products (CPSC/CPC), food, supplements, and cosmetics (FDA/MoCRA), and electronics (FCC/battery) have compliance rules that 1688 listing claims do not satisfy.

Are 1688 parcels under $800 still duty-free into the US?
Don't assume that. US policy suspended duty-free de minimis for broad categories — for covered PRC/Hong Kong goods from 2025-05-02 (EO 14256) and for all countries from 2025-08-29 (EO 14324). Check current CBP guidance before quoting landed cost.
How do I estimate US duty on 1688 goods?
Start from HTS classification, country of origin, customs value, and entry method, then check current CBP guidance. Section 301 and IEEPA tariffs may apply on top. We surface the questions; a broker confirms the rate.
Can I sell 1688 products on Shopify or TikTok Shop in the US?
Often yes, but compare landed cost and compliance risk, not just item price. Children's products, electronics, cosmetics, and food/supplements have CPSC/FCC/FDA rules that 1688 listings do not satisfy.
Is DDP safer for a US small seller?
DDP can simplify the buyer experience, but it does not remove product-compliance or incorrect-declaration risk. Confirm what a DDP quote actually covers.
What happens if the product is restricted or needs specialist compliance advice?
The check flags visible restricted-product, carrier, certification, and platform-compliance signals. A high-risk or unclear case can end in Manual review or Stop. It is not legal or customs advice, so regulated categories still need the appropriate specialist before you pay.
What evidence do I receive after goods reach the China warehouse?
When receiving and photo evidence are included in your approved quote, you receive dated photos of the visible cartons, labels, and contents before the next handoff. Those photos do not by themselves prove product performance, full compliance, or defect-free goods; deeper inspection is a separate approved scope.
Does Supplymo buy immediately after I submit a product?
No. Submission starts a check only. A supplier purchase can begin only after a written quote is prepared and explicitly approved.
Can the workflow stop after the first check?
Yes. The result may recommend a sample, more information, manual review, a different route, or stopping before payment.
